Greetings everyone. Since our increased traffic many of our viewers and staff have expressed the want for TV to return to our homepage. I have discussed this with SHiNY and he has decided to bring the TV section back to the homepage as a trial run.
In light of this the active TV editors at SceneSource have begun developing a new TV template to grace our homepage as our current one was designed to be as minimal as possible and may not do epic TV series justice.
I think a lot of our visitors will agree this is a nice change. Stay tuned for details.

I think the epic tv doesn’t need special treatment.
Edit: Oh yeah and no troll posts kthxbia.

I’d have preferred that it stayed off the main page myself …. anyway this isn’t my site
August 15th, 2008 at 9:47 am
I think it’s a good idea. Will look like you guys are doing more and make it one less click for me. You know how these mice just wear out with all the extra clicking.

dont like it i use eztv ..
August 15th, 2008 at 10:44 am
I liked it the way it was! I know it will look like there are more posts, but I liked that just the good stuff was on the front page. I hope you change it back once you have “settled” new traffic from rlslog. Anyway, keep up the good work guys.
August 15th, 2008 at 10:53 am
Yeah, I have to say, I did like it the other way… as in the TV posts were in the TV section and not on the front page.
August 15th, 2008 at 11:20 am
bad idea. too many, too much space. if you put all rls in one post, that’s adequate enough.
August 15th, 2008 at 11:31 am
Well this is a trial to see what you guys think. So if you like it, comment, if you don’t, comment too. Rlslog does it and nobody seems to complain (perhaps due to the lack of alternative), and our posts currently are far smaller and less encumbering.

No frills tv eposides indexer for Usenet/Newsgroup users:

Actually people used to complain a load about having to sift through all the garbage to find the biggers posts on Rlslog, I loved the fact you guys had a seperate section for TV shows. The people who want TV on the homepage just want this place to emulate Rlslog… I vote seperate TV section.
August 15th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
i gotta say i think i liked it seperate but if you do all tv posts for the night in a single post that would still be cool, u cud edit the post to add rls as they came out.
okutu

I didn’t even realise the tv section was seperate - I only found it yesterday. I was wondering why there were never any tv releases on here.
I think the best solution would to be have seperate sections (TV, Music, Apps, Console etc) and let people vote on releases - any that get more than a certain number of points make it to the front page.
That way people will still be able to browse all releases (the way I like to do it), and there will be a front page listing what the community considers the “best” releases).
Check out http://www.hotukdeals.com for a site that runs the same system (except nothing to do with releases).

I like it better this way. A lot of the TV releases weren’t getting viewed.
August 15th, 2008 at 12:28 pm
Definitely better this way around
August 15th, 2008 at 12:57 pm
Lots of different opinions, and they have been noted
August 15th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
I’d also say seperate it. I’d rather have to click on “TV Shows” once than to click “Previous Entries” multiple times to get to the main movies/game releases.
August 15th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
Personally I liked it better before, in fact if I had my way all you would post would be movies and games. But I think its smart to post TV on the main page considering that TV torrents are some of the most popular content downloaded.
“According to TorrentFreak, TV shows are the most popular content being traded via the file-sharing protocol, accounting for nearly 50 percent of downloads. By collecting data from representative sample of BitTorrent sites, TorrentFreak found that the download numbers for popular series are closing in on Nielsen;s counts. The Lost season finale, for example, had almost 10 million downloads, compared with 12.3 million TV viewers. Other shows consistently on the sites Top Downloads list include Battlestar Galactica, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report. - ks”

BAD IDEA, if there is something that kept me away from rlslog is the amount of cheap tv series
sorry but scnsrc not my homepage anymore

Bad idea - now looks like a TV site with the odd subject interspersed…
Preferred it before…

I wonder why people call the movies/games the “main part of the site”. To them it maybe the main part, but as 1oath says, they are in the minority of users.
I’ve got 0 interest in games, so movies and tv are the main part for me (with console (if covered) coming second). I’d quite like some music too.
We all have different views on what constitutes “main”. Many people have 0 interest in games, so why no stick them in a separate section too.
This is why I think a “best of each section” approach is good - all sections get onto the main page, but none dominate it.

liked it much better as a seperate page
August 15th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
please make this site less grey
August 15th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Much better with a separate section for TV stuff. But a big logo or button somewhere around the header to notice everybody who visits the site that those are in a separated section would be nice.
August 15th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
yeah, i agree there should be something posted, i always forget you guys even have the tv section, maybe you should just have a nightly lineup, no images or anything, just link the post topic to the tv section and put the release names and episode info in the description, would cut down on the size of the post so it would be easier for most people to over look it, i usually watch all tv releases on Ninja Video anyways since i dont need to burn them to dvd theres no reason in saving them to my hdd, should be pretty easy though, full posts in the tv section and a lineup on the main page
August 16th, 2008 at 2:54 am
Yeah, if anybody is willing to join the staff for the sole perpose of creating compilation posts of TV then I suggest you contact lee- or shiny. We can’t do everything, you know guys, as we found when we used to do TV Comp posts, towards the end we became lazy and couldn’t be fucked doing them anymore. We figured that most of the readers now knew about the TV section and could help themselves to it on their own.
Ahh, but things can change, so we may have a big vote to see what kind of setup people want the most or even offer an alternative. ty for your interest

Fir gods sake, put the TV stuff back in it’s own area! It’s not rocket science to SEE, NOTICE & CLICK on the *TV* section to review the umpteen TV shows that have been released. Don’t feel the need to have Apps / Games / Movies, although at times moving the movies out would be nice too; but the sheer amount of TV stuff vs. anything else is just absurd. Maybe make the graphic for TV a little more obvious for people who can’t manage to see what’s directly in front of their face.
August 16th, 2008 at 7:49 am
Err… that should’ve said “For gods sake” and there should’ve been a “please” just before put. lol
