There’s a brand new VODO release “In Guantanamo”. All the info can be found on the links below. You will find a link to the torrent on the movie’s information page. Enjoy.

Genre: Documentary
Director: David Miller
Runtime: 22min
Homepage | Movie Infomation | Torrent

Synopsis: Guantanamo naval base, “Gitmo”, covers forty five square miles of Cuba inside an area under a controversial ‘permanent lease’ to the United States. Since 2002, the base has become synonymous with its detainment facilities for suspected terrorists. Although Barack Obama has given orders for the detention camp to be closed, the facilities remain open to this day. David Miller’s quiet, powerful film is the result of three days the filmmaker spent touring the camps in May 2008 as part of a small group of media representatives allowed there. Although the event was presented as a chance to ’see inside’ the working of Guantanamo, it was in fact a carefully staged PR exercise designed to yield predictable, stale, controlled media images.

thanks for the post bigbox30 and although this isn’t a political blog we should look at what it is Gitmo means to us as humans on planet earth late 2009. One of the most frustrating things about the way that amerika has been riding roughshod over the rule of law domestically and internationally is the mass acceptance that things changed when Oblam Blam Blam got elected, when in fact nothing has changed.
Gitmo is still open Oblam is too weal willed to force congress to close it even if he wanted to. Extra judicial murder and renditions continue to this day Oblam didn’t change that one iota, unless you call making a couple wishy washy press releases and speeches a change.
Amerikans can still have their telephone conversations intercepted without a warrant, which is fair enough I spose if you consider that everyone else outside amerika has had to put up with that a lot longer.
A big mob of amerikan intelligence agents have been convicted of kidnapping in Italy in absentia, the scuttled out of europe at the first sign og an investigation, yet we can be sure that the amerikan prez won’t be offering them up to the Italian courts for imprisonment.
Hang on what’s goin on there? Back in 02 when it was decided on the basis of a mis-translated home video that bin laden cooked up 911 and amerika demanded that afghanistan hand him over, then Afghani prez mullah Omar said, “give us evidence and we will turn anyone who seems to be guilty over to the relevant authorities for trial”. BushCheney said “hell no give em to us -NOW!” when Omar insisted that proper processes be followed Afghanistan got invaded and the killing still goes on. Another 9 Afghanis out tilling their fields got wasted by ‘accident’ yesterday bombs dropped in the wrong ‘targetspace’ no doubt. all those billions of dollars and tens of thousands of lives wasted because the amerikan empire wanted to show it was the meanest on the block. The killing still goes on yet the eurotrash kiss Oblam-blam’s butt when he showed up on his royal procession through amerika’s european empire.

Not the best promo to write for your video.

    In response to “What”…

I think the description is just a disclaimer about the censorship… it’s not as if they can just show up at Gitmo unannounced without getting shot…I think these journalists are doing the best they can…if you actually watch the doc, there are several instances where he says “Are you filming? Turn that off! ” and they continue to capture audio with the camera pointed down…
