Combine the sentiment of Coldplay with the Emo Poppunk of Jimmy Eat World and you’ll get Caesars Rome. The songs of this band from Wales are well made and The Company We Keep is also a well produced album. The big disadvantage though is the that the songs are too similar. The one-dimensional vocals of singer Jonathan Hopkins also don’t help. The spark is just not there. This makes Caesars Rome doesn’t deliver on all fronts, so don’t expect any miracles from this one. If you’re into Metalcore then his album will leave you begging for more! The aggressive and violent instrument play lends to the chaotic nature of the entire album and truly gives Wrench in the Works something that every strives for but few find, “Unique Sound.” If you were a fan of Lost Art of Heaping Coal then you will love this album. I’m always a little leery of live albums, as many are simply recorded poorly, then packaged for sale. This is not the case here. From the album’s opener, “Famous For Nothing,” the album captures all of the energy of a live Murphys set, and the recording is clean and perfect. In fact, some of the songs benefit from the live treatment even more so than they did on the original recordings. “Sunshine Highway” and “(F)Lannigan’s Ball” are injected with extra sweaty energy, and their Boston sports anthems “Time To Go” and “Tessie” are presented in best possible way, accompanied by the cheers and accompaniment of rabid Boston sports fans.
